Finch Hattons Camp

Finch Hattons Camp

What does “personal service” mean on a Kenya animal safari? At Finch Hattons Camp in Tsavo West National Park, you’ll find out.
Safari rooms with tents set up on raised platforms with thatch roofs

Every day there are game drives, guided nature walks, bush meals, and trips.

The food and service, along with the peaceful country house feel, are the best parts.

Tsavo West National Park in Kenya is the place we’re going.

The camp is named for Denys Finch Hatton, a big game hunter and guide who made Kenyan safaris more luxurious in the 1940s and 1950s. Part of his life and his relationship with Karen Blixen, who wrote the book Out of Africa, are shown in the famous movie of the same name. People knew Denys for his friendly personality and stylish trips through the heart of Africa.

After going on safari on the grassland, Finch Hattons Camp is a great place to relax in a beautiful, lush setting. The camp is in the middle of a forest and looks out over some natural springs. The cathedral thatch ceilings in the main building and the classy mood inside make Finch Hattons a cool and peaceful place to unwind.

You can spend time at the pool and its shady deck in between trips to see wildlife. The bar is open all day, and the main room and restaurant are nice places to eat and relax. On the mezzanine level, you can read in the cozy library and look up at the beautiful thatch roof. The library has both classical and more modern music.
