Mara Bushtops Camp has tent suites.
At Mara Bushtops, you can stay in Kenya safari tents that are big and set up quietly on the side of a hill. There is a comfy bed in each tent, and the doors open onto a large deck. It has a nice bathroom right next to the bedroom, with both an indoor and an outdoor shower. Each tent has a writing desk and an eating table for a romantic dinner on the deck.
There is also a sunken hot tub on the deck, which is a great place to relax after a day of game drives in the Mara, especially while drinking a cool drink and taking in the view.
Tent for the Leopard Suite Family
The Leopard Suite is a double suite at this Masai Mara Camp that is good for families. Each side of the large living room is a double room with its own bathroom. Each room has a door that leads to a large deck with a hot tub and a view of a saltlick.
You can eat outside on the deck of this family room, which also has its own bar. The suite can fit a total of 6 people because an extra bed can be added to each room for children.
The place
There is a high-end tent camp called Mara Bushtops on the Bushtops Private Conservancy, which borders the Masai Mara.
This Masai Mara camp is on the edge of a hill, and the main gate to the Masai Mara National Park is only 4.5 kilometers (2.8 miles) away.
The crocodile-filled Mara River is visible from Mara Bushtops. During the Great Migration, the wildebeest have to cross this river. Every year, from November to January, the Mara is crossed by Wildebeest on their way to find new places to graze.
The area is good for seeing wildlife all year, though, because it is home to many plains game. Large groups of lions and other dangerous animals, like leopards and hyenas, live in the Mara.
How to Get to Mara Bushtops
By Air
There are flights every day from Nairobi and Mombasa to either the Siana Springs or Keekorok airfields in the Mara to the north. Flights from Mombasa take about two hours, and if the weather is good, you can see Mount Kilimanjaro in all its glory. It only takes 35 minutes to fly from Nairobi, which is the country’s capital.
By Road
The trip from Nairobi to Narok is beautiful. It goes through the Great Rift Valley and then up the Mau cliffs. About 50 kilometers outside of Narok, the paved road stops. From there, it’s all dirt roads to Mara Bushtops in the Masai Mara.
Things to do
During your luxury Kenya safari vacation at Mara Bushtops, you can do a lot of fun things, such as game drives, bush walks, and hot air balloon tours.
Game Drives
At Mara Bushtops Camp, you can go on game drives in the early morning, during the day, and in the evening. Wildlife is most busy right after the sun rises, so early morning game drives are usually the best times to see them.
There are also more predators around, and it’s not too hot. Before going back to the lodge for a full breakfast, the morning drive stops for tea and coffee. For those who want to explore the reserve at their own pace, the lodge also lets you book the sole use of a car and a guide.
Full-day drives to see games
At around 8:30, a full-day game drive leaves. Spend the whole day visiting the savannah, which is full of animals like zebras, wildebeests, giraffes, and elephants. In the middle of the day, a cool picnic lunch will be set up under an Acacia tree by the Mara River, where you can watch Hippos do their thing.
During the Great Migration, people watch the Wildebeest to see where they are most likely to cross the River.
Game drives in the evening
Around 6:30 in the evening, the game drive in the Bushtops Conservancy begins. As the sun goes down, predators are more busy getting ready for the night’s hunt. Hyenas and Jackals may fight over a Lion kill. The drive will stop at a beautiful view point where you can enjoy a cool drink while watching the sun go down in a rainbow of reds and oranges.
Safari in a hot air balloon
This part of the tour starts very early. The lodge will pick you up and take you to the launch spot. The balloon will take off just before dawn and drift over the grassland as the sun comes up. For the Great Migration, hundreds of thousands of wildebeest, as well as groups of elephants and giraffe, will be shown below.
The flight lasts about an hour, and then there will be a Champagne breakfast in the middle of the bush.
Mara Bush Walks
A ranger and a Masai tracker will lead you on a game walk through the private reserve, where you can see the African savannah on foot. Get close to groups of Impala and Zebra. They will show you how to find animals and talk about how the plants in the area help the native tribes stay alive in the bush.
The Mara Bushtops Camp has weddings.
The Mara Bushtops Camp is a great place to get married or go on a vacation. Say your vows with the beauty and sounds of the Mara in the background.
