Mahali Mzuri

Mahali Mzuri

Mahali Mzuri is Richard Branson’s high-end game camp in Kenya. It is in the private Olare Motorogi Conservancy, which is part of the Masai Mara.

Why we love it and think you will too

One of the best places in the famous Maasai Mara is Mahali Mzuri, which is right on the road of the Great Migration.

In addition to seeing a lot of wildebeest, people often see lions, elephants, giraffes, and cheetahs.

You can do anything you want. You can go on organized game drives twice a day, visit a nearby Masaai village, or just relax and get a massage or two.

With their front-row seats to the most beautiful sunsets and sunrises in Kenya, the tented rooms are the height of luxury.

You can bring your family to Mahali Mzuri. Also, each child who stays will be given a bag of treats to keep them busy during their stay.

Your Time in Mahali Mzuri

Mahali Mzuri is Sir Richard Branson’s newest safari camp. It is hidden away in the private Olare Motorogi Conservancy in Kenya’s Maasai Mara.

Luxury and great game viewing are both promised by the property. Guests will also get special access to the yearly migration of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle, which happens in the area from July to October.

The team of experienced tracker-guides will take you on game drives twice a day. You can also visit the nearby Masaai village, take some time for yourself at the spa, and go on champagne picnics in the plains.

The best thing about a Masai Mara tour at Mahali Mzuri is that you can plan how you want to spend your time, especially during the quiet times when you’re not seeing animals. In the main room, which is in the middle of the camp, you can talk to other guests or read a book while sitting on the couch. When it’s hot outside in the summer, head straight for the infinity pool with your favorite safari drink—maybe a G&T?

You can eat dinner at the big table or somewhere a little more private in the evening. This is exactly what you’d expect from a hotel owned by Sir Richard Branson, from the rooms to the food.

Place to stay

Mahali Mzuri is Sir Richard Branson’s 12-tent luxury Masai Mara game camp set in the middle of the Kenyan bush, right in the middle of the Great Migration every year.

The Mahali Mzuri safari rooms are well-designed, with private decks and floor-to-ceiling windows that let you see the plains in all their beauty.

It’s nice and warm in the four-poster beds, which have big, fluffy pillows that add some color. There are leather sofas, minibars with drinks ready for sunset, and desks just for writing where you can sit down and write in a diary or send an email to family and friends back home. The bathrooms that are connected to the rooms have the most beautiful ball and claw spas that are placed so that you can soak and look around at the same time.

Two of Mahali Mzuri’s bedrooms have sofa beds in the living rooms that can fit up to two more children. It’s also possible to rent out the whole house for parties or birthday gatherings.

The place

Mahali Mzuri is a private tented camp set in the Motorogi Conservancy, a private area of Kenya’s Masai Mara. The camp is surrounded by rolling hills.

The Olare Motorogi reserve covers 13,500 hectares and includes the Olare Orok Conservancy. Mahali Mzuri is in this reserve.

It’s about 240 km west of Nairobi, but the best way to get there and back is to fly to and from Nairobi-Wilson Airport. You can book private charter trips (just ask one of our Travel Experts), and several domestic airlines offer regular flights to and from the area. Mahali Mzuri is close to two airstrips. The Olare Orok airstrip is about 25 minutes away, and the Mara North airstrip is about an hour’s drive.

If you want to visit Kenya, Jomo Kenyatta foreign Airport in Nairobi is the main foreign airport. It has daily direct flights from London, Paris, New York, Brussels, and Amsterdam, which are all major European cities. Also, people come every day from Johannesburg, South Africa.

Things to do

Masai Mara safaris can be customized for Mahali Mzuri guests, who can go on game drives, walking safaris, and cultural trips to the nearby Maasai village.

Big cats and wildebeests

From July to September, you can be sure that those huge groups of wildebeest will come to the Olare Motorogi Conservancy. What if you’re not in the area during those months? You can still see a lot of interesting things besides those sprinting and grazing gnus. Two daily guided game drives leave from camp. The experienced guides will try to get you close to a variety of birds and big animals, such as elephants, hippos, giraffes, cheetahs, and the local points of pride of lion.

Memorable Meals for Mahali

One thing that makes Mahali Mzuri stand out is, of course, the food. The cooks are pretty amazing because they are so far from nearby towns and cities. They can make anything at any time. Different and hearty dishes are made with ingredients from a lot of different countries, from Africa to Europe. No matter if you’re having a champagne picnic, a dinner for two under a lantern on the deck, or a social barbecue in the bush, meals are an event in and of themselves. Please say yes!

Safari with the family

Being able to welcome families with open arms is what we love most about Mahali Mzuri. As soon as the kids arrive, they will be given a bag of treats to keep them busy during their stay. The guides are also there to help watch over a variety of educational activities, such as tracking animals and birds in the area around the camp, for extra peace of mind. At night, you can look at the stars, tell stories, and roast marshmallows over a fire.

Tours of the Maasai community

Get on one of the tours that go to the nearby Maasai homesteads if you want to add some culture to your trek at Mahali Mzuri. The experience is very hands-on; you can help milk the cows and talk to some of the locals about their daily lives. Along with your knowledgeable Maasai guide, you can also stop by one of the neighborhood schools.
